I want to increase the amount of time I spend creating. From the moment you sit down at your desk to draw, how long does it actually take before you start? Be honest with yourself, do you have a “quick scroll” on TikTok? Maybe check some emails? End up on a spiral of doom scrolling or admin tasks?

I found that sitting at my desk, I was doing so many other tasks before I actually got to the creating. I seriously want to level up my illustration game this year, and part of that involves increasing the amount of time I spend using that creative side of my brain.

So I set myself a challenge. Spend half an hour a day drawing. That’s it, I can do more if I want, I just need to build the habit.

The rules:

  • Spend no more than 2 minutes choosing a subject - I want to reduce overthinking and tune into my creative intuition

  • No bigger than A5 - this helps me stay within the time limits (hopefully!)

  • I can’t do the same subject more than once - let’s get out of that comfort zone!

  • No procrastination, just creation!

I’m posting a drawing a day online to hold myself accountable (and get more comfortable on Social Media). I’m looking forward to see how this turns out!
